Dear Brothers and Sisters Assalamu-Alaykum,
Alhamdulillah it was a successful meeting with the Chaplains at RiverSide Hospital.
There were 4 of them and it was about 2 hours meeting.
Here are some highlights 1. They very much liked our idea about Care Package and would like to stock some as soon as possible. 2. They were asking if we could have someone drive the patients or their families to the mosques, i said currently not but in future we will try. 3. They want to restart Juma Salaat in 2 places, Riverside fairview and Fairview University of Minnesota campus, they used to have but it was stopped as there were no Imaams for the Juma Khutbah. i said this is something we might be able to provide. i have started looking and talking to potential brothers who could take turns and give khutbah at these 2 campuses. 4. They need a list of mosques, name of the mosque administrator and languages spoken for the mosques in the twin cities. Many times the patients or their relatives want to join any activities going on in the muslim community specially during EID and they currently donot have a way to know. The Chaplain can use this list to call the mosques and find out the details. Brother Abdul Qadir has already started working on this List. 5. They have muslim patients from abroad and their families often feel isolated. They want a list of muslim families in the community speaking different languages who could give company to these families and take them around the community etc., 6. Often times in the Intensive Care Units people wants to speak to an Imaam, i said i will bring this up to our Imaams and let them know what our Imaams can do in this regard. 7. Their is an orientation which they can arrange after office hours, they want us to let them know when to arrange for orientation, it would be for atleast 3 hours. 8. They were excited that we have sisters also in our group.
What i told them very clear is that we have limited resources and what we promise right now is one scheduled weekly visit and any emergency upon request visits.
Alhamdulillah we now have a Beeper, i gave them the updated letter with the Beeper#.
This is our fourth and last hospital that we would be concentrating on for now. InshaAllah things will move forward quickly now that we had meeting with all these four hospitals.
Great opportunites awaiting ahead for all of us. May Allah enable us to fulfill our promises.
